SEMA Camaro Sale Benefits Children’s Charities

The WD-40/SEMA Cares Camaro sold for $75,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show and Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., with all proceeds of the vehicle’s sale benefiting Childhelp and The Victory Junction Gang Camp children’s charities.

The winning bidder of the custom Camaro, Matt Tachdjian from Orange County, Calif., took home a custom 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS/RS that features a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, more than 600 hp, a body kit, custom interior, entertainment system and paint that emulates WD-40’s signature blue and yellow can, according to a press release.

“I couldn’t be happier having placed the winning bid on the WD-40/SEMA Cares Camaro,” said Tachdjian. “It’s a beautiful car built to benefit very deserving charities.”

Childhelp is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping abused and neglected children through advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach. The Victory Junction Gang Camp, started by the Petty family, provides life-changing camping experiences to special needs and chronically ill children.

“We wanted to partner with some of the best in the business to build a vehicle that honors a great product and helps support a worthwhile cause,” said Tim Lesmeister, vice president of marketing for WD-40 Company. “We’ve been blown away by the attention it’s received, and are glad it’s now found a happy home.”

A virtual version of the vehicle was concurrently sold in Nitto 1320 Legends, an online racing game and social network, to help benefit the same charities.

Partners included APE Wraps, Audio Innovations, Barrett-Jackson, Cie Studios, DynoMax, Eclipse, Forgeline Motorsports, GTR High Performance, Haddad Motorsports, Hedman Hedders, House of Tints, Katzkin Leather, L&G Enterprises, MGP Caliper Covers, Nitto Tires, Odyssey Batteries, Paxton Automotive, Pedders USA, PhotoTouch Inc., PPG Industries, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Street Scene Equipment, and Top Quality Powder Coating.
